I didn’t understand the massive hype for this or There Will Be Blood - which was put around the same time.

Didn’t enjoy either

Usually love Cohen Bros films and stuff about the American west but I've tried several times to "GET INTO" this film but just can't.

Too bleak, too dark. Fully appreciate some people love all that though.

Not sure why this was such an issue.....

I couldn’t get past the fact that there was no way they could have put in a tracking device in the suitcase that would have lasted that long back when this was set.

Re: No Country For Old Men
The book is even bleaker than the film as the writing is so spare.
The Road is also a classic (another Cormac McCarthy adaptation) and is a real grind but, shockingly, has a happy ending of sorts.

Nobody would go back with that water would they? And if I ever find a bagful of cash I’m going through it with a fine tooth comb!

Fantastic film. Love every minute of it.

Not for those who need something pointless happening every 5 seconds. Stick to Marvel films.

Not every film has to have a ‘Happily Ever After’ ending.....

Re: No Country For Old Men
For what its worth

The ending is Tommy basically saying

"This is no country for old men"

What the fuck is complicated in that?

Re: No Country For Old Men
Can't deny the acting is superb and I can understand why people see it as a classic but I wasn't keen but I'm not a fan of the Cohen brothers particularly, so not my thing but as I say I can understand why many appreciate it.

Re: No Country For Old Men
Watche it ages ago after all the hype and just found it really boring. Much like a lot of Cohen brothers stuff, it’s stylistically great but otherwise I didn’t really enjoy it. Better than intolerable cruelty though *shudders*

Re: No Country For Old Men
Decent. Bardem is great in it.

Very dark. No nonsense.

Although I do feel it got lost up its own arse in the middle where I think they tried to be too clever with drawn out scenes which added little.

Has this suddenly become the new General Film discussion thread? Keep on topic you cunts.

Great film. I love most of the Coen brothers' stuff.

Re: No Country For Old Men
I watched The taking of Pelham 123 yesterday, the original. What a great film. And Robert Shaw like Day-Lewis made films worth watching.
